The mechanics of a family trip here are not complicated, but a few of them are easier to sort out before you arrive than after.
Car seats
U.S. Virgin Islands law requires a child restraint for children five and under. We have car seats available for an additional charge per seat, per rental. Request them when you book so one is ready and fitted when you arrive rather than waiting at the counter.
Size up on cargo, not seats
Families routinely book by seat count and then discover the boot will not take a stroller, a cooler, beach chairs and four suitcases. If your days will involve hauling gear to the beach, a four-door SUV with a real cargo area is worth the step up.
The drive itself
The hills and curves affect anyone prone to motion sickness. Sit susceptible passengers forward, keep the air moving, and break long drives up. Nowhere on St. Thomas is far in miles, but the roads make everything take longer than the distance suggests.
A realistic pace
Two things a day is a good target with young children. The island rewards a slower schedule anyway.
Tell us your group when you book — ages, how many bags, where you are staying — and we will point you at the class that actually fits.
