What this page covers
These terms cover use of this website and our SMS messaging programme. They are not the vehicle rental agreement. The rental contract you sign at pickup governs your rental, including insurance, deposits, damage, mileage and liability.
1. Using this website
The content on this site is provided for general information about renting a vehicle in the U.S. Virgin Islands. We work to keep it accurate, but vehicle availability, fleet composition, policies, fees and requirements change. Nothing on this website is an offer to contract, and details are confirmed by our office at the time of booking.
Vehicle photography and specifications are representative. Make, model, colour, trim and features may vary, and a comparable vehicle in the same rental class may be substituted.
2. Reservation requests
Submitting the reservation form on this site sends a request. It does not create a booking and does not hold a vehicle. A reservation exists only once Discount Car Rental has confirmed availability with you directly.
We do not collect payment card details or driver's licence images through this website. If you receive a message that appears to come from us asking for those through a web form, do not respond to it — call the office instead.
3. SMS messaging
If you opt in to text messages when submitting a reservation request, we may send you messages relating to that reservation.
- Message and data rates may apply.
- Message frequency varies with your reservation activity.
- Reply STOP to any message to opt out.
- Reply HELP for assistance, or call (340) 776-4858.
- Carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages.
- Consent to messaging is not a condition of renting from us.

4. Rental eligibility
Renting a vehicle requires a valid driver's licence and a qualifying payment card in the renter's name. Age requirements, insurance requirements, deposits and additional driver terms apply and are set out during booking and in the rental agreement. Current requirements are summarised on our FAQ page.
5. St. John travel
Only qualifying four-wheel-drive and all-wheel-drive rental classes may be taken to St. John on the car ferry, and only with our confirmation. Car ferry services are operated by third parties on their own schedules and terms. Vehicles must remain on established roadways; driving on trails or off established roads, including within Virgin Islands National Park, is not permitted.
6. Third-party links
This site may link to ferry operators, tourism resources and other businesses. We do not control those sites and are not responsible for their content, availability or terms.
7. Intellectual property
The text, photography and design on this site belong to Discount Car Rental or are used with permission. Please do not reproduce them without asking.
8. Changes
We may update these terms. The date at the top of this page shows when they last changed.
